Formula
**Pallet Loading Formula**
Boxes Per Layer = ⌊Pallet Length ÷ Box Length⌋ × ⌊Pallet Width ÷ Box Width⌋
Layers = ⌊Max Pallet Height ÷ Box Height⌋
Total Boxes = Boxes Per Layer × Layers
Worked Example
**Example:** 48"×40" pallet, 12"×10"×8" boxes, 60" max height
Boxes/Layer = ⌊48÷12⌋ × ⌊40÷10⌋ = 4 × 4 = **16**
Layers = ⌊60÷8⌋ = **7**
Total = 16 × 7 = **112 boxes**
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the standard pallet size?
The most common US pallet is 48"×40" (GMA pallet). Standard stacking height is 48"-60" for non-stackable loads.
Does this account for box rotation?
This uses one fixed orientation. Try swapping box length and width manually to see if rotation yields a better fit.
Should I include the pallet height?
Yes. If your pallet board is 5.5" tall, reduce max height by 5.5" to stay within dock door or truck height limits.
